A year in flowers

inspiration for everyday living

by shane connolly

Internationally renowned floral designer Shane Connolly has made a triumphant return to the publishing world with his fourth book, following the worldwide acclaim that greeted his designs for the Royal Wedding in April 2011.  In 2015 Shane was awarded his second Royal Warrant, as floral designer to HM the Queen.  Shane already holds the Royal Warrant for HRH the Prince of Wales, and we offer congratulations for this well deserved accolade.  Shane has, over two decades, amassed an enormous, discreet and highly covetable client list. This takes him all over the world, where he regularly lectures in Tokyo, San Francisco and New York.

As details of Shane’s events are rarely published, A Year in Flowers is our opportunity to find out how to recreate his magic in our homes. These are inspirations for everyday living, which follow the seasons from Spring, Summer, Autumn and through to Winter. There is an emphasis on what is seasonal, organic and sustainable – one of the author’s passions is that we use what is available rather than expensive out-of-season plants. Simplicity is another theme: while we will all need extraordinary flowers for a special event (which is showcased in the book also) most of the time we want inexpensive arrangements to suit our domestic lives.
